When a midsummer storm floods the banks of a great pond, a young treefrog named Frogwilla finds herself separated from her mama and papa, and her beloved home, Willow’s End.  Alone and scared, Frogwilla soon finds the courage to venture out into the unknown on a quest to search for her parents.  But many obstacles await her.

Along the way, Frogwilla discovers some unlikely friendships in a speedy dragonfly called Sunshine and a wandering turtle called Tucker.  With the help of her new-found friends, they embark on a journey that teaches them the true meaning of hope, friendship, and courage.

My grandchildren have always played a big role in my passion for writing and publishing children’s picture books. But when one of my granddaughters, Hannah, asked if I might consider trying my hand at writing a chapter book, I wasn’t quite sure if I had the talent for jumping into another genre. Loving a challenge, it didn’t take long for me to decide to give it a whirl, especially after falling in love with Hannah’s e-mail address. You see, when Hannah’s mother allowed her to have her first e-mail account, she chose to use the name, Frogwilla. And Hannah loves frogs . . . anything and everything to do with frogs! As luck would have it, my husband and I had a treefrog that loved to visit our flower garden and hang out on our front deck during the summer. And so we named her Frogwilla. We enjoyed watching this little treefrog and listening to her sweet trill in the evenings. It wasn’t long before my imagination began to take over. “I think we might have a story here, Miss Hannah!” I exclaimed. And so, Frogwilla, A Treefrog’s Story began.

    :

Children will enjoy Frogwilla’s adventures as she sets out on a courageous journey to find her parents. Chapter-book readers will love the story as will younger ones who listen to it being read to them. An imaginative cast of characters blend realism with fantasy. Excellent!

    :

I absolutely loved this sweet story. The story follows a young tree frog on her journey to find her family. Frogwilla, is afraid of heights and has a difficult time climbing. She is sure that disappoints her father. During a horrible storm she is separated from her parents. She must dig deep to find the courage to go places she has never been, meet other animals and do things she thought she’d never do.
My 8 year old loves that she made new friends different than herself and that they were loyal and helpful.
This is a beautifully written story about love, courage, friendship and being kind to others even if they are mean to you.

    :

Very cute story about a tree frog that gets lost from his parents and meets different animals along his adventurous journey in finding his parents again. The book had a very creative way of telling a story about pond animals that I actually enjoyed and got caught up in different emotions as the story came to climaxing moments in the book. Great for educational use for 3rd grade reluctant readers or for a science class to study frogs.
